Questions
FAQ
Who can participate?
Ohio State students who are 18 or older, in any major and at any skill level.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. DevHacks is free, and food is provided all weekend.
Do I need a team?
No. Teams can have up to 4 people. If you come alone, join the team formation session right after the opening ceremony, or hack solo.
I've never been to a hackathon. Should I come?
Yes. Plenty of people at DevHacks will be at their first hackathon. Mentors are around all night, and a small project that works is better than a big one that doesn't.
Do I have to stay overnight?
No. You can leave and come back whenever you like; just wear your badge. If you stay, there is a quiet room for sleeping.
What should I bring?
Your laptop and charger, your BuckID, and a water bottle. If you plan to sleep, bring a sleeping bag or blanket, a pillow and a toothbrush.
What can I build?
Anything: a web or mobile app, a game, a hardware hack, a tool. Projects must be started at the event. Sponsor tracks are revealed at the opening ceremony; you don't have to enter one.
How do judging and prizes work?
Submit your project on Devpost by 11 AM Sunday, then demo it at your table during the judging expo. Winners are announced at the closing ceremony. Every team that submits is entered into the raffle.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Tell us when you register. We'll order vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergy-safe options to match.
Everyone agrees to this when they register
